5 Tips for Making Liposuction Results Last Longer

Liposuction is the procedure that eliminates excess fat deposits from specific areas of the body. This procedure is not a weight-loss method and shouldn’t be seen or used as such. The abdomen is the area most commonly targeted with this procedure, but it is also popular to get liposuction on the thighs, lower back, arms, legs, knees, calves, and chin.

Many patients return to work just a few days after lipo, depending on the physical requirements of their jobs and the extent of their procedures. The results of this procedure can be long-lasting; however, the patient needs to put in the efforts to maintain them.

1. Wear a girdle

During liposuction, the plastic surgeon makes small incisions in the target areas. Then the surgeon inserts a cannula through these incisions. Using back and forth movements of the cannula, the plastic surgeon dislodges fat from the subcutaneous level. This movement turns the fat into liquid and then the cannula suctions it into a medical vacuum device connected to the cannula. Most patients will notice a certain level of swelling and bruising during the post-op period.

After the procedure, the plastic surgeon will advise the patient to wear a girdle or another type of compressive garments for a few weeks. The girdle helps you with the swelling that can naturally occur after liposuction. Wearing the girdle can reduce the recovery time so that the patient can see the final results sooner. Additionally, wearing a girdle can improve the overall results, this is why many plastic surgeons recommend it.

2. Keep the fat out – maintain a healthy weight

patient can alter the results of liposuction if he or she starts accumulating fat again.

Undergoing a liposuction procedure is not a guarantee that you will not gain weight in the future. The plastic surgeon removes a considerable amount of fat cells during the procedure, but not all of them. If the patient gains a significant amount of weight afterward, their overall appearance is likely to change as their body stores excess fat in other locations. Specifically, because the fat tends to accumulate first in areas not treated with the procedure. Weight fluctuations of more than 5 lbs.

3. Exercise regularly

Exercising regularly is a good idea, and the patient should start doing it even before undergoing liposuction. Liposuction results look much better on a toned body. In fact, this procedure does not significantly improve the appearance of saggy skin.

After liposuction, patients can enhance their body look by regularly keeping an active lifestyle. This includes going to the gym, jogging, or doing other sports or physical activity that they enjoy. Moreover, this helps them maintain the results achieved with liposuction for much longer.

4. Make healthy choices

If you have often enjoyed fast food before getting your liposuction procedure, you should consider giving it up. It is crucial to keep in mind that fatty and fried foods can lead to weight gain and cellulitis. These conditions can adversely affect the results of liposuction.

To maintain the results of liposuction longer, you should make healthy choices when it comes to food and drinks. Always make it a priority to drink enough water. Proper hydration can make a tremendous difference when it comes to wellness, but also aesthetics. Keep hydrogenated fat and sugar intake to a minimum if you can’t eliminate them. Have fresh fruits and vegetables every day, preferably with every meal. These healthy choices can help you keep your weight down and also improve your skin elasticity.

unnecessarily prolong the recovery period.

Smoking also damages the results achieved with liposuction. The recommendation is to stop smoking a few weeks (3 to 6 weeks) before undergoing plastic surgery. Also, it is recommended to stay smoke-free for at least the same amount of time after the procedure. Most patients find this to be an excellent opportunity to quit smoking for good. Smoking can cause delayed wound healing and can also

5. Follow your plastic surgeon’s advice

As it is the case with any other plastic surgery procedure, the patient receives personalized instructions meant to help keep the results for as long as possible.

Following the directions of the plastic surgeon is important for having long-lasting results after liposuction. Getting enough sleep and taking a break from strenuous physical exercises during the recovery period are some of the most common recommendations. However, depending on your health condition and personal characteristics, the plastic surgeon might have other individual recommendations just for you.

Proper care equals long-lasting results

Liposuction is an excellent method to get rid of localized deposits of fat. Especially, it eliminates fat from areas of the body difficult to address with physical activity and diet. The results of this procedure become fully visible when the swelling and bruising disappear. It could take up to three months to fully see what you have achieved with liposuction.

To maintain these results as long as possible, the doctor advises patients to avoid weight fluctuations, choose healthy foods, and exercise regularly. Follow the plastic surgeon’s recommendations if you want to protect your investment. This way, you will enjoy the beautiful results achieved with this plastic surgery for a long time.
