The New You Awaits
Chin Liposuction usually goes along with neck liposuction. Chin and neck liposuction are minimally invasive surgical procedures to shape the neckline. They eradicate the excess fat below the chin and the sagging skin which makes people look older.
Since the chin and neck are prone to store excessive fat, especially as we gain weight and age, chin liposuction offers some promising benefits. Among them, there are a refinement of the jawline and the enhancement of the neckline and silhouette. This woman writes how she determined she needed chin lipo.
A Plastic Surgeon can do Chin Liposuction through traditional surgery or laser.
- Traditional Cosmetic Surgery – Generally, the Plastic Surgeon performs a small incision in the chin area. Some Plastic Surgeons perform an Intraoral incision (inside the mouth). Then, the surgeon inserts a micro-tube through the ports to suction out the fat. The suctioning of fat takes about 30 minutes. After the procedure, the patient will have a dressing underneath the chin and his/her head and neck will be wrapped with an elastic bandage. The elastic will be removed the following day. However, the patient will need to wear an elastic garment for about two weeks until the drainage resolves.
- Laser Procedure – This is a relatively new technique for chin liposuction. The Surgeon uses a laser instead of a liposuction cannula. This laser procedure does not do a suction process because it uses light energy to burn the fat cells.
How long does the chin liposuction procedure last?
It would only take about an hour.
Is it painful?
During the operation, the patient is under anesthesia so there is no pain. Afterward, some people may feel a bit of discomfort but it depends on the pain tolerance of each patient.
Who is a good candidate for a chin liposuction?
This procedure is good for both men and women who have excess fat under the chin known as “double chin.” The ideal candidate still has skin elasticity and muscle tone. Otherwise, people who have lost their skin’s elasticity, having lax muscles and extra skin may need to get a neck lift or mini facelift.
How big is the chance of having sagging skin after this procedure?
Taking care of one’s skin is a big factor in preventing sagging skin. Normally, one is asked to wear a medical facial garment such as a chinstrap day and night for one to two weeks that should make the skin become firm.
When will I see results?
The patient can see results right after the procedure, or after the Plastic Surgeon removes the bandage.
